DIGITAL REPRESENTATION, DISPLAY AND PROMOTION OF THE PREHISTORIC LAKESIDE SETTLEMENT OF DISPILIO
One of the largest European projects in the field of archaeological digital representation and the creation of new experiences for visitors to the archaeological site of the excavation of the lake Neolithic settlement in the Dispilio area of Kastoria with the acronym e-Displilio.
The project was undertaken to be completed by the team of EXEO – Software House and Vilabs – Versatile Innovations and the close collaboration of the research working group of archaeologists of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki A.U.TH. headed by K. Konstantinos Kotsakis (scientific supervision, central museological idea, scripts), Tryfon Yiagoulis (architecture, material culture), Trisevgeni Papadakou (environment, material culture), Irini-Margarita Tzemopoulou (environment, material culture), Carlota Blasco Aguirre (material culture) who provided all the necessary information and guidance for the implementation of the project “DIGITAL REPRESENTATION, DISPLAY AND PROMOTION OF THE PREHISTORIC LAKESIDE SETTLEMENT OF DISPILIO” within the framework of the action “Protection and Promotion of Cultural Heritage and Their Functional Networking – TRANSFERRED WORKS" of the "Western Macedonia 2021-2027" Program.

Briefly the deliverables and my role in the project.

Conversion of 3D photogrammetry models for use in a virtual reality application.

Completion with 3D modeling of archaeological finds (ceramic vessels and statuettes) with the guidance of the archaeological team.

Photorealistic Design of archaeological finds in their original form, schematic, color and artistic motifs based on studies and hypotheses of the ceramic research team.

Environment design of the area based on research by the archaeological team about the landscape and vegetation (adapted to the era in which the virtual reality takes place) in May ~5300 BC.

3D Design of tools and special constructions of the Neolithic era, such as axes, adzes, sickles, hearths, ovens, nets, fish traps, etc.

Spatial planning of the settlement based on the research of the architect/archaeologist of the working group.

Research and design of Neolithic people from existing data and other information that came from research, DNA analyses and issues that appeared during the implementation of the project.

Design of Characters Clothing.

Design and creation of movement of a Neolithic statuette.

Precise 3D design of 2 huts based on many years of research that has been made in the excavation of the area, with the aim of creating a representation in the era in which the virtual reality scenario takes place.

Creation of material for the creation of two video games, an augmented reality application and a website which was part of the project.

Creation of interactive models in a virtual reality environment.

Creation of a series of cinematic scenes that represent activities of Neolithic people of the time, such as the use of tools and techniques for carving the earth, leather processing, animal husbandry, construction of a Dugout canoe, pottery, etc.

Participation in the creation of a web based digital map.

Participation in the production of the project's Website.
